FUCK YOU GEORGE W. AND ALL THE REST
Dedicated to the memory of Shaka Sankofa

Another brother drops
Another one gone
Dead
Murdered
By the state.
To serve and protect. we know who.
They say he was innocent,
"We know he's innocent" they say,
"But we gotta keep the machine going,
gotta keep feeding the fire."
So they strapped him in a chair,
Shot his body full of half a million volts
And let him die there
Chained
As they would any rebellious slave.

They fired heat-seeking missiles into the ghetto,
Programmed to find the hottest head, the angriest heart,
An unbroken spirit,
And you can't escape and you can't hide.
Changing your name won't save you,
Cause they only recognize slave names
And they can smell that shit on you.

He was innocent, they said,
But proved him guilty.
He was imprisoned from birth.
He grew up on death row,
Played tag in prison block yards
And spent his life waiting for the order to come down,
Waiting for the warrant to be signed,
He was born,
Scheduled for execution.

Because they plant terminator seeds in the bellies of our babies,
Trying to ensure every generation will be the last.
The seeds burrow down deep,
Secreting unfocused rage that seeps into our bloodstream,
Striking everyone
Like erratic gun fire,
Like focused and honed lightning.
Best to drop to the ground,
Cause everyone nearby is in the line of fire.
Best to chop close to the base,
Cause the roots be strong in this one.

They want us to eliminate exterminate our wombs,
Cut our fallopian tubes
And pack away our ovaries.
They want us to throw up our hands
And throw away our children
Because they have been stained by historic violence,
Stained by forces trying to silence them through death.
Will we continue to make their job easier,
Locking ourselves away in mental cages
And death rows
Of the soul?
Will we surrender our children and ourselves
To hands dripping with blood and laws and probable cause?

We will not throw one more brother
One more sister
Away.
We have lost too many already.
