Contributors April Ardito: In addition to representing Worchester, MA at the 1999 National Poetry Slam, April hosts an open mic at The Moonstruck Café. She is the author of Fire and Other Sex Toys and Measures of Central Tendency. Janet I. Buck: has appeared in Gravity, The Doomed City, A Writer's Choice, The Melic Review, The Pittsburgh Quarterly, Kimera, The Rose & Thorn, 2River View, Southern Ocean Review, Urban Spaghetti, Perihelion, and Mind Fire among hundreds of others. Two of her poems have been nominated for the next Pushcart Prize Anthology. Her most recent collection is Calamity's Quilt available from Newton's Baby Press. Jeremy C. Garland: lives in Baton Rouge, LA with his wife Heather where he works as a technical writer. He represented this fine southern city at the 1999 National Poetry Slam. He has since performed part of the Southern Fried Regional Poetry Slam and the Slam America tour. Jason Gossard: Jason "Shaggy" Gossard is a pre-K teacher in a small South Texas community where he hones his Slam skills with daily performances of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "If You're Happy and You Know It". He has an irrational fear of losing his teeth, and he hates pickles. He is two degrees from Kevin Bacon. He wishes to give a Texas Size Shout Out to his newlywed bride, who has shown him extremes of happiness and joy he never thought possible. Daphne Gottlieb: is a San Francisco-based poet dedicated to the fine arts of provocation and visibility. She is the author of Pelt, a full-length book of poetry released by Odd Girls Press in June 1999. She has been widely published in journals and anthologies, including Big Bridge, The Exquisite Corpse and Poetry Slam: The Competitive Art of Performance Poetry. She has appeared coast to coast as half of poetry duo "Hell on Heels," and has toured with notorious all-girl spoken wordsters Sister Spit. She is a digital columnist for soon-to-be-launched Metroleum.com, and is at work on her second full-length book, tentatively titled Why Things Burn Alan Kaufman: is the editor of The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry, a 960 page anthology from Thunder's Mouth Press. His previous books include The New Generation (Anchor/Doubleday) and Who Are We? (Davka Limited Editions). His stories, poems and essays appear widely in print and online in such publications as Salon, Witness, Tikkun, BeeHive, Savoy, and Long Shot. Bruce Kramer: is a technical writer by day and a hardcore slammer by night. He is a past winner of The Battle of the Poets Slam and a co-editor of The Iconoclast. Cristina Teresa Lopez: is a twenty-five year old writer from New York. Her poetry has been featured in Switched-on Gutenberg, Cherrysucker and the anthology, In Their Own Words, Vol. 2. Most recently, she took third place in National League of American Pen Women's International Free Verse Poetry contest for 2000. She is currently working on a non-fiction book. Daniel Ridges: teaches high school English in Aurora, Illinois. Sylvia Sampson: is a former Battle of the Poets Slam champion and one of the youngest-looking grandmothers you're likely to meet. This is her second appearance in an Asterius Press publication - her first was in Gnome. Geoff Trenchard: a performance poet from the San Jose area, Geoff hosts an open mic at Channel One.
